Hyderabad, October 30, 2024- The Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) organised a program on Solvent Management EHS Good Practices by Industry on Tuesday at its premises in Red Hills. It was organised by an expert Committee of FTCCI on Environment
Solvents play an integral role in numerous industries, from manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. We recognize the critical role that solvent management plays in safeguarding the environment and ensuring the health and safety of workers. Solvents, while essential in numerous industrial processes, pose substantial risks when not managed properly. From air pollution to occupational health hazards, the implications of improper solvent handling are far-reaching. Therefore, the importance of this programme cannot be overstated, especially in the context of our collective responsibility towards sustainable industrial growth, said Suresh Kumar Singhal, President of FTCCI.
At FTCCI, Singhal said have always been at the forefront of promoting sustainable business practices. Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management is an integral part of industrial responsibility, and through initiatives like this, we aim to foster a culture of safety and sustainability across industries. Today’s session will not only focus on the technical aspects of solvent management but also on the broader goal of minimizing environmental impact while optimizing operational efficiency.
Speaking on the occasion G Bala Subramanyam, Chairman of the expert Committee, Environment Committee of FTCCI said in the Pharma industry. Solvent Management is one of the key sustainability indicators. A good solvent Management Framework from “Environment” and “Safety” aspects are becoming key driving factors for the pharma industry. Repeated industrial accidents are a matter of concern. Safe handling of solvents coupled with efficient solvent recovery and reuse protocols will help the industry in a long way. Good solvent management covering all the EHS aspects will address the three pillars of the sustainability i.e. Profit, People & Planet.
The day long program covered Environmental and safety regulations & compliance with reference to solvent management, safety in handling of the solvents, industrial accidents and learning to take it forward, industry EHS good practices in handling the solvents etc and others.
