New Delhi, 18 August 2025: Kautilya Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 2003 to promote the philosophy of Chanakya and preserve India’s cultural heritage, hosted a Felicitation Ceremony at the India International Centre, New Delhi, to honour contributors to the Mahakumbh Diabetes Awareness Camp 2025. The event also coincided with the celebration of India’s Independence Day.
The Mahakumbh Diabetes Awareness Camp, jointly organized by Kautilya Foundation and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), was held in Prayagraj from 13 January to 26 February 2025. It became the largest diabetes awareness and screening initiative in the country, reaching over 40,000 individuals for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity screening. Thousands of pilgrims benefitted from free medications for diabetes and blood pressure during the event.
The felicitation ceremony was graced by Smt. Vimla Batham, former Chief of the Women’s Commission and MLA, Gautam Budh Nagar, as the Chief Guest, along with distinguished guests Dr. Anuj Maheshwari (Professor and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Past Governor – American College of Physicians), Dr. Amit Gupta, Mr. Sunil Sharma, Mr. Sunil Pipalwa, and Mr. Vinod Sharma.
Dr. Anuj Maheshwari, President-Elect of RSSDI, played a pivotal role in the successful execution of the camp. In his address, Prof. Maheshwari stressed the urgent need for mass-scale awareness programs to combat lifestyle diseases and highlighted the importance of controlling diabetes, obesity, and related conditions. He also shared valuable suggestions for managing these health challenges through regular screening, timely medical intervention, and healthy lifestyle practices.
The program began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by Shiv Vandana, a captivating Kathak performance by renowned dancer Nisha Kesari. Prof. Lallan Prasad delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Rajesh Kesari presented an overview of the Mahakumbh camp’s objectives and achievements.
Distinguished contributors to the camp were felicitated for their invaluable efforts. Speaking about the initiative, Prof. Lallan Prasad remarked, “The Mahakumbh camp was not just a health activity—it was a movement to reach every pilgrim with awareness and care.”
The event concluded with a soulful musical presentation by noted singer Pankaj Gupta, after which guests enjoyed a networking lunch.
The felicitation event underscored Kautilya Foundation’s commitment to public health, cultural preservation, and community empowerment, and served as a reminder that collective effort can drive large-scale social change.
