Thiruvananthapuram: As part of its Diamond Jubilee year, HLL Lifecare Limited, a central public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, launched a series of initiatives on World Environment Day to promote sustainable practices and environmental responsibility. Sustainability initiatives are among the key areas the company has chosen to focus on during its 60th year.

The nation-wide programme was inaugurated with the planting of a sapling by Dr. Anitha Thampi, Chairperson and Managing Director, HLL, at the Corporate Head Office in Thiruvananthapuram. N. Ajit, Director (Marketing), and other senior officers were also present during the occasion.
At HLL’s Peroorkada Factory, 200 vegetable saplings were distributed to employees, followed by a prize distribution for winners of the Environment Day poster competition. Hindlabs also joined the green efforts by handing over potted plants to customers and employees in New Delhi and other places.
Thiruvananthapuram Assistant Collector Dr. Sivasakthivel C inaugurated an ink dispenser supplied by HLL at Government HSS, Meenankal under the Suchitwa Mission. HLL’s Sustainable Projects Division also signed an MoU with the Energy Management Centre to implement state-wide programmes focused on sustainability and energy efficiency.
In line with the theme ‘Catch Them Young’, HLL conducted awareness programmes across various schools in the district. A total of 190 saplings were distributed to students at Government Girls HSS Peroorkada, PSNM HSS Peroorkada, GHSS Ambalamukku, and GLPS Oolampara. Poster competitions and seminars on environmental protection were also organized to engage students and nurture eco-conscious thinking from an early age.
With initiatives like the THINKAL menstrual hygiene campaign, the SustainEd school program, solar power installations, rainwater harvesting, and a dedicated Sustainable Projects Division, HLL is making sustainability a key part of its day-to-day operations.
