Kolkata, 13th August, 2025: The Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) hosted an interactive session with H.E. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Ambassador of Denmark to India, to explore opportunities for deepening Indo-Danish collaboration in renewable energy, sustainable development, trade, and technology. Ambassador Kristensen highlighted Denmark’s global leadership in offshore wind energy, digital governance, energy efficiency, and advanced waste recycling. He shared Denmark’s ambitious sustainability targets for 2030, noting that more than 50% of the country’s power already comes from wind energy. Denmark’s expertise in green technology, particularly in offshore wind, offers significant scope for collaboration with India in achieving its renewable energy ambitions.
The discussions emphasised the strengthening of bilateral relations between India and Denmark, underscoring the shared commitment to addressing climate challenges while fostering economic growth. The potential conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union was identified as a key enabler for enhancing competitiveness and further deepening India–Denmark economic cooperation. Ambassador Kristensen noted that over 200 Danish companies are currently operating in India, contributing to diverse sectors of the economy. Danish companies’ were also interested in Electric Vehicles, Water Conservation Technologies, and Advanced Medical devices He also remarked that bridges in Denmark are being engineered from India, symbolising the strong industrial collaboration between the two nations. Denmark is keen to explore the vast and diverse domestic market of India, which presents significant opportunities for trade and investment. Additionally, Copenhagen can serve as a strategic gateway for Indian investors to access the Northern European market directly, further expanding bilateral trade possibilities.
