Bodh Gaya, Jul 24, 2025,The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya kicked off the building of its Satellite Executive Education Campus at Bihta, Patna, laying the foundation stone in July 2025. The ceremony was led by Shri L. Ramkumar, Chairperson, Board of Governors, in the presence of Shri Sandeep Ghose, Member, Board of Governors, and Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, Director, IIM Bodh Gaya. The new campus represents a strategic expansion of the institute’s commitment to executive education, aimed at empowering working professionals, government officials, and senior leaders across sectors.
Envisioned as a hub for leadership development and executive learning, the Bihta campus will offer a wide array of programs, including Management Development Programmes (MDPs), Executive MBA, and Executive Ph.D. courses. Located near Patna, the campus enhances accessibility for participants from Bihar and other states, while reducing logistical challenges and fostering deeper engagement with government bodies, public sector enterprises, and academic institutions.
The campus will also host executive certificate programmes in collaboration with institutions such as AIIMS Patna, NIFT Patna, and IIT Patna, promoting interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral learning. Planned initiatives include a dual-degree program with IIT Patna and various sector-specific capacity-building modules.
To support sectoral growth and institutional capacity building, IIM Bodh Gaya has signed MoUs with state government departments including the Water Resources Department, Transport Department, Department of Industries, Bihar Agriculture Management & Extension Training Institute (BAMETI), IGIMS Patna, and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India. These partnerships enable focused training for grassroots governance and public administration.
During a year marked by innovation and outreach, the Executive Education Department of the institute introduced several impactful initiatives. These included MDPs for elected representatives and Panchayati Raj officials under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) and the governments of Bihar and Jharkhand, along with leadership programs for academic leaders (NFLP Programme), state government officers, and officials of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). In 2025 alone, the institute trained over 8,100 participants through more than 125 executive and management development programs.
Specialised programs were also conducted for personnel from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and for Deputy Superintendents of Police and fire officials from the Bihar Police Academy and State Fire Department, reinforcing leadership at various public service levels.
In addition, the institute organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Academic Leadership in Private Higher Education Institutions, catering to the growing demand for governance and leadership skills in the private education sector.
With the upcoming Bihta campus and a strong network of strategic partnerships, IIM Bodh Gaya is poised to emerge as a national leader in executive and professional education, bridging academia, government, and industry to promote impactful, inclusive, and sustainable development.
