National, August 7th, 2025: K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM) and AIPMA’s AMTEC have formally entered into a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the KJSIM campus. This marks the beginning of a collaborative journey between academia and industry to address key challenges in sustainability, skill development, and innovation within the plastics and manufacturing sectors.
The MoU establishes a framework for joint initiatives, including certificate programs, research, consulting, and knowledge-sharing in areas of mutual interest. The first initiative under this partnership will be a 34-hour certificate course on “Plastics in Sustainability,” to be designed and delivered by KJSIM faculty at AMTEC’s state-of-the-art training facility in Andheri, Mumbai.
Dr. Raman Ramachandran, Director, K J Somaiya Institute of Management, emphasised the larger vision behind the partnership, “K J Somaiya Institute of Management’s collaboration with AMTEC’s AIPMA is a timely and meaningful step towards addressing that issue. Through this certificate program, we aim to bring scientific depth, practical insights, and a sense of responsibility towards how professionals engage with plastics in the broader context of sustainability and to better equip them to contribute solutions in the plastics ecosystem.”
AMTEC, the academic and training arm of the All India Plastic Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA)—India’s largest plastics industry body with over 5,000 direct and associate members—brings deep industry access, advanced technical infrastructure, and a commitment to skill development, especially for the MSME sector.
Mr Arvind Mehta, Chairman Governing Council, The All India Plastic Manufacturers’ Association, stated, “AMTEC is delighted to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with KJ Somaiya Institute of Management. This gives the plastic industry, mostly in the SME sector, to benefit from this association. AMTEC will work closely with the KJSIM faculty and bring value to the industry in promoting sustainability.”
The MoU signing was attended by the leadership teams of both organisations and sets the foundation for an enduring partnership. Beyond academic programs, both parties aim to collaborate on long-term initiatives that contribute to sustainable industry practices and the professional development of future-ready talent.
