Malhotra then invited Rahman on stage, where he performed Jai Jai Ram alongside Chinmayi Sripaada. Later, to a roaring crowd, Rakul, Ravie, Ranbir, Sai and Yash shared what it meant to bring this epic to life on the big screen.

A key highlight of the evening was Ravana Tandav, released on Dussehra. Yash took the stage to describe how the song drew him into the aura of Lord Shiva and shaped his portrayal of Ravana. Rahman, backed by his orchestra and chorus, then took the audience through themes and background music from the film before bringing Mangal Rang and Jodi Jodi to life on stage. Sachet Tandon followed with the first-ever live performance of Main Ram. The celebration closed with the cast, singers and key members of the team together on one stage, honouring the music of Ramayana.

“The Ramayana is a story every Indian grows up with, and it has always travelled through music, from Ramlila to the songs families come back to every festive season. As the official music streaming service for Ramayana, we wanted its music to have a moment as grand as the film itself. Bringing A.R. Rahman, the cast and the makers together on one stage in Chennai, between Dussehra and Diwali, was our way of celebrating that legacy with listeners across India and around the world. With music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer and lyrics by Dr. Kumar Vishwas, this is an album for every listener, whichever language they listen in.”

Talking about the collaboration, Namit Malhotra, Producer, Ramayana, Global CEO, DNEG & Founder, Prime Focus, said,

““For me, music has always been at the very heart of Ramayana. This is a story that has lived in our hearts for generations, and I always believed its music needed to carry that same emotion, devotion and timelessness, while speaking to audiences across the world. Bringing together two musical legends, A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, was driven by that very vision to create something deeply rooted in India, yet universal in its appeal and emotion. To experience this music come alive in Chennai, alongside the incredible people who have poured their hearts into bringing Ramayana to life, was an incredibly special moment for me. I am delighted to partner with T-Series and Amazon Music to take the music of Ramayana to audiences around the world. This has been a deeply personal journey, and I can’t wait for the world to experience it.”
