Hyderabad , June 17 : Hyderabad has joined the growing list of cities worldwide adopting Pulse Field Ablation , a next-generation technology for the treatment of atrial fibrillation , with the successful completion of the first PulseSelect™ Pulse Field Ablation procedure in AIG Hospitals, Hyderabad and Telangana.

Atrial fibrillation , one of the most common heart rhythm disorders globally, is becoming increasingly prevalent in India due to an ageing population and the rising incidence of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. AF causes the heart to beat irregularly and can lead to symptoms including palpitations, breathlessness, fatigue, and reduced exercise tolerance. More importantly, individuals living with AF face a significantly higher risk of stroke, making timely diagnosis and treatment critical. Catheter ablation has emerged as an established treatment option for appropriately selected patients with atrial fibrillation. Pulse Field Ablation represents a novel, non-thermal ablation technology that uses controlled electrical pulses to selectively target cardiac tissue responsible for abnormal heart rhythms.
The landmark procedure was performed by Dr. C Narasimhan, Director & Head of Cardiac Electrophysiology, AIG Hospitals marking the first use of the PulseSelect PFA System in Hyderabad and Telangana. PulseSelect™ is designed to support pulmonary vein isolation , a cornerstone therapy in the treatment of atrial fibrillation. As global clinical experience with Pulse Field Ablation continues to grow, the technology is increasingly being adopted by electrophysiologists seeking innovative approaches to AF treatment.
The successful completion of this first procedure marks an important milestone in expanding access to advanced electrophysiology therapies in Telangana and underscores Hyderabad’s growing role in adopting innovative cardiovascular treatment technologies.
