The event also featured a special segment where breast cancer survivors walked the aisle with confidence and pride, symbolizing their strength, resilience, and victory over the disease. Each step reflected their journey from diagnosis to recovery, inspiring others to believe that breast cancer can be managed with early detection and timely care. The heartfelt walk and other programs like pledges, engaging performances, and meaningful interactions served as a powerful tribute to every woman’s courage and determination, reinforcing the message that awareness and proactive medical diagnosis can save lives.

The theme of the campaign - “Walk of Courage” - truly captured the spirit of the event, celebrating every woman who turned her battle with breast cancer into a story of hope and inspiration. It was a reminder that courage isn’t about being fearless, but finding the strength to move forward despite of fear. The event inspired attendees to embrace self-care and support others through awareness and timely action.

Mr. Prateek Jain, Regional Business Head, Healthcare Global Enterprises, shared, “Breast cancer awareness begins with conversations  the more we talk about it, the more we can break the fear and stigma that stop women from coming forward. Women often prioritize their families over their own health, but it’s time to change that mindset. A few minutes spent on self-examination or a yearly screening can make all the difference. Through initiatives like ‘The Pink Carpet’, we want every woman to know that early detection is an act of self-love and courage.”

Mr Amarjeet Singh, Chief Operating Officer, HCG Cancer Centre, Newtown, Kolkata, said, “One in every eight women is at risk of developing breast cancer during her lifetime, making it one of the most common cancers among women globally. Unfortunately, many women still come to us in the later stages because they ignore early warning signs such as a painless lump in the breast, nipple discharge, dimpling of the skin, or a change in breast shape. These symptoms should never be overlooked. Early diagnosis offers the best chance of cure and recovery. Regular self-examination, annual mammograms after the age of 40, and awareness about family history are the keys to timely detection. At HCG, we believe that awareness and proactive health checks are just as important as advanced treatment - together, they can save lives.”

HCG Cancer Centre Kolkata’s initiative not only celebrated the courage of survivors but also sparked meaningful conversations on early screening and prevention, embodying the hospital’s continued commitment to awareness, empowerment, and compassionate care.
