New Delhi, Jan 07: Madha Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI) has announced the installation of the advanced AI-powered Acuson Origin ultrasound system, becoming the first medical institution in South India to adopt this cutting-edge technology. Developed by Siemens Healthineers, the Acuson Origin delivers high-quality cardiac ultrasound imaging and supports both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, significantly enhancing diagnostic efficiency and patient comfort by reducing reliance on conventional electrocardiograms (ECGs).
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), continue to be the leading cause of mortality in India. According to the World Health Organization, NCDs accounted for 63% of total deaths in 2016, with CVDs alone contributing 27%. Despite the scale of the challenge, timely diagnosis and access to advanced cardiac care remain limited across many regions.
