Medanta Launches ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ Campaign to Drive Prostate Cancer Awareness Among Senior Citizens

Medanta The Medicity, one of India’s leading super-speciality hospitals, has launched ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ (SMBK), a community-focused prostate cancer awareness campaign aimed at breaking the stigma around prostate health and encouraging senior citizens to speak openly, undergo timely screening, and seek early medical consultation.

As part of the initiative, Medanta introduced a dedicated prostate health awareness kiosk featuring a one-minute quick prostate health test, screened an educational video, and hosted an expert-led panel discussion highlighting the importance of early detection and recent advances in prostate cancer treatment. The kiosk was inaugurated by Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta, in the presence of Mr. Pankaj Sahni, Group CEO, Medanta; Dr. Narmada Prasad Gupta, Professor Emeritus, Urology, Medanta; and Dr. Gagan Gautam, Chairman, Urology and Uro-Oncology, Medanta.

Commenting on the campaign, Dr. Naresh Trehan, Chairman & Managing Director, Medanta, said,

“At Medanta, we believe that awareness and early action are as critical as clinical excellence. Through the ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ campaign, we aim to create a safe and supportive environment where senior citizens can openly discuss prostate health, overcome hesitation, and take charge of their well-being. This initiative underscores our commitment to preventive healthcare, community engagement, and informed decision-making.”

Prostate cancer is among the most common cancers affecting Indian men, particularly those above the age of 55 and men aged 45 and above with a family history of cancer. Despite its high prevalence, delayed diagnosis remains common due to lack of awareness, social hesitation, and limited screening practices.

Through SMBK, Medanta seeks to normalize conversations around prostate health, promote early consultations, and strengthen preventive healthcare behaviours among the elderly population. The campaign reinforces the message that open dialogue and early screening are vital steps toward better health outcomes.

Senior clinicians at Medanta emphasized that prostate cancer is often slow-growing and asymptomatic in its early stages, making routine screening crucial for timely diagnosis. Advances in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical techniques have significantly improved treatment precision, reduced recovery time, and enhanced quality of life when the disease is detected early.

Highlighting the importance of awareness and early intervention, Dr. Gagan Gautam, Chairman, Urology and Uro-Oncology, Medanta, said,

“Men should not ignore early warning signs such as difficulty in urination, blood in urine or semen, erectile dysfunction, or unexplained pain in the back, legs, or pelvis. With advancements in robotic technology, prostate cancer can now be diagnosed and treated with high precision and minimal side effects, ensuring faster recovery and better outcomes.”

The ‘Socho Mat Baat Karo’ campaign marks the second chapter of Medanta’s ‘Jaanta Hai Medanta’ initiative, which focuses on increasing cancer awareness and encouraging timely medical action through community engagement and education.
