Spirituality meets Science in a unique conversation on strong families and strong minds

Hyderabad, Aug 18: A unique dialogue bringing together spirituality, science and mental health will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Avasa Hotel, Madhapur, Hyderabad, offering an opportunity to explore how ancient wisdom and contemporary scientific understanding can come together to address some of the challenges facing individuals, families and society today.

Titled “Strong Families. Strong Minds.”, the special Symposium Dialogue will feature a thought-provoking conversation between Shri Gaur Gopal Das, monk, motivational speaker and author, and Dr. Pratima Murthy, former Director and Senior Professor of Psychiatry at NIMHANS. The dialogue will seek to bridge two seemingly different worlds—spirituality and science—and examine their complementary role in building emotional resilience, healthier relationships and stronger minds.

The programme will be graced by Shri Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, as the Chief Guest.

The dialogue is expected to explore questions that are increasingly relevant in today’s fast-changing world: How can families remain emotionally connected in an age of increasing stress and isolation? Can spiritual wisdom complement modern mental-health approaches? What can individuals and families do to develop greater resilience, compassion and inner strength? And how can society create an environment that nurtures both mental and emotional well-being?

The coming together of Gaur Gopal Das, known for his ability to communicate timeless spiritual wisdom in a contemporary and accessible manner, and Dr. Pratima Murthy, a distinguished psychiatrist and mental-health professional, is expected to make the evening a meaningful exchange between two important perspectives on human well-being.

Dr. Beena Chintalapuri is an Indian cognitive psychologist, emeritus professor at Osmania University, and an Ashoka Fellow widely recognized for pioneering cognitive-behavioral rehabilitation programs in Indian prisons.

The organisers believe that the conversation is particularly significant at a time when mental health, family relationships and emotional well-being have emerged as critical concerns across generations.

The Symposium is conceived as a platform where visionaries converge, ideas intersect and meaningful conversations take place—not merely to discuss problems, but to encourage reflection and inspire constructive change.
