Kolkata, 7th February 2025: Aakash Aath, one of the major General Entertainment Channels (GEC) of the region, is going to air a special episode on the RG Kar Tragedy in their upcoming episode of the popular Crime Show, Police Filez. Through this initiative the show will be paying homage to the victim on her birth anniversary on 9th February, 2025.
At the dawn of 10th August, 2024 the city of Kolkata woke up to the shocking and heinous killing of a Postgraduate Trainee Doctor at her own workplace. The incident shook every roots and walls of the whole Nation.
By scrutinising the evidences and the footages it was revealed that the tragic death of the Trainee Doctor was executed by a Civic Volunteer. This incident sent shockwaves to every corner of the globe and resulted in the mass staging of vociferous protests demanding immediate action and justice.
“The show Police Filez is the first and the longest running crime show of Bengal. This year we have touched the milestone of 23 years of successful run on the screen. From showcasing the incident of Hetal Parekh to Park Street Case, Police Filez has been successful in bringing into light many other spine chilling, real life happenings. The RG Kar incident was not only heart-breaking but it raised indefinite questions on the safety and protection of the women at work places and even at home. Through the special episode on the Abhaya Case we will be honouring the pure and resilient spirit of a woman. The research team of the show has conscientiously worked for this specific story to make the audience aware and preventive. We have been very particular in the choice of the faces for the characters and have shot in the original locations to render authenticity and reveal the truth in a sensible manner,” said Ms Priyanka Bardia, Director, Aakash Aath.
The journey of Police Filez dates back to the year 2003 as an important initiative undertaken by Late Ashok Surana. The aim of the show was to hunt the remote and unsolved cases of inhumanity and present them on the screen. Police Filez till today has broadcasted over 6000 episodes. It has served as an important tool of communication to the Police and the other Security Departments of the State. Through the special episodes of this show many pending criminal cases and disguised horrific incidents were uncovered and received the deserved justice. The show also gives equal opportunities to the fresh faces or the upcoming talents to showcase their acting skills before the audience.
In the special episode of RG Kar Tragedy in Police Filez, the character of Abhaya will be played by Subhashree, while Ashish Pathak & Rina Mitra will be seen essaying the roles of Tilottama’s parents, the characters of the accused civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy and the Principal will be portrayed onscreen by Chandan Banerjee and Rana Rai. The Direction and story is by Prantik Gayen.
Aakash Aath will be telecasting the special episode on the RG Kar Tragedy in Police Filez on 8th February, 2025 from 8:00 PM and at 11:00 PM. The viewers can watch a repeat telecast on 9th February, 2025 from 12:00 PM noon.
