Chandigarh, October 22, 2026: Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, one of India's largest aluminium producers, is targeting capitalisation on changing dynamics in the global aluminium market, where supply-chain disruptions are creating fresh opportunities for reliable, cost-competitive producers. As geopolitical tensions continue to affect production and shipping routes in the Gulf, India's aluminium industry has an opportunity to strengthen its role in global supply chains, with Vedanta Aluminium bringing together scale, integrated operations and expanding production capabilities.

A recent Reuters commentary, Aluminium's calm belies lingering supply-chain stress, highlights the contrast between relatively stable benchmark prices and continuing tightness in the physical market. Iranian missile attacks on Gulf smelters and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have knocked out almost 3 million tonnes of aluminium production capacity, according to the report. While additional output from Indonesia and increased Chinese exports have helped offset part of the disruption, the market continues to contend with supply constraints.

India's aluminium producers such as Vedanta Aluminium, NALCO etc have a clear opportunity to emerge as more important suppliers to global markets, as buyers seek to diversify sourcing and build resilience into their supply chains. Indian producers with reliable operations, competitive production economics and the ability to offer a broader range of products are particularly well placed to respond.

For Vedanta Aluminium, these market dynamics reinforce the strategic importance of scale, cost competitiveness and integration. The company reported record half yearly quarterly aluminium production of 649 KT and record alumina production of 895 KT in Q2 FY27. Aluminium production grew 5% year-on-year, alumina output increased 37%, and value-added production rose 31%, reflecting its continued focus on capacity ramp-up, operating efficiency and downstream expansion.

Vedanta Aluminium's integrated operating model, spanning alumina refining, aluminium smelting, power capabilities and downstream products, provides a foundation for strengthening cost competitiveness and operational resilience. Its ongoing focus on production growth, resource security and higher value addition is aligned with the demands of an industry in which both supply reliability and efficient production matter.

The opportunity also extends beyond the current disruption. Investment in AI and digital infrastructure, electricity networks, renewable energy, electric mobility, and advanced manufacturing continues to support aluminium's long-term demand outlook. These applications require substantial quantities of the metal, creating opportunities for producers that can combine scale with competitive costs and differentiated products.

For Vedanta Aluminium, the combination of India's manufacturing opportunity, strong operating momentum and a focus on scale, integration and value addition provides a platform for growth.
