Panasonic Launches World’s First Autofocus Capability for 4K Studio Cameras in India, Alongside New 4K Multi-Purpose Camera at Broadcast India 2026

The AK-UCX100 features the world’s first built-in autofocus function in a 4K studio camera, according to Panasonic, enabling faster and more precise focus management in demanding production environments. Complementing it, the AK-UBX100 combines professional 4K imaging and autofocus in a compact, approximately 1.9 kg body, offering greater flexibility for robotic camera systems, cranes, gimbals and other specialised installations. Together, the cameras address key production needs, including focus accuracy, flexible camera placement and integration with modern IP-based workflows.

Mr. Vijay Wadhawan, Chief Business Officer, Panasonic India Pvt. Ltd., said,

“Professional broadcasting is evolving rapidly, with growing demands for higher image quality, operational efficiency and more flexible production environments. At Panasonic, we continue to advance imaging technologies that help broadcasters and production professionals respond to these changing needs. The introduction of the AK-UCX100 and AK-UBX100 reflects our commitment to delivering innovative, reliable and future-ready solutions that enable professionals to push the boundaries of live and studio production.”

Mr. Bhavya Jain, Business Chief – India & SAARC, Professional Displays, Projectors & Broadcast Solutions, Panasonic Life Solutions India, said,

“Precision and flexibility are fundamental to professional video production, particularly as workflows become increasingly automated and interconnected. The AK-UCX100 brings advanced autofocus directly into the 4K studio camera, helping operators maintain accurate focus in demanding live environments, while the compact AK-UBX100 expands deployment possibilities across robotic and specialised camera positions. With advanced imaging and IP connectivity, these cameras are designed to simplify production workflows and give professionals greater flexibility without compromising on image quality.”

AK-UCX100: Advancing Precision in 4K Studio Production

The AK-UCX100 introduces a built-in autofocus function to the 4K studio camera category, according to Panasonic’s research. Powered by Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), the technology supports fast, reliable focus acquisition across different lens types and production scenarios. Adjustable focus areas, manual fine-tuning and dedicated focus-assist indicators give operators greater control over focus while supporting smooth operation during live broadcasts.

The camera features a 19.29-megapixel MOS sensor and delivers a horizontal resolution of 2,000 TV lines in 4K. Support for HDR HLG and the BT.2020 colour standard enables detailed image reproduction, while simultaneous HDR and SDR output accommodates different production and distribution requirements.

Designed to support evolving production infrastructure, the AK-UCX100 integrates video processing into the camera head, enabling operation without a conventional Camera Control Unit (CCU) in supported configurations. Connectivity options include dual 12G-SDI, SMPTE ST 2110, NDI High Bandwidth and SRT, supporting integration across baseband and IP-based workflows.

The camera also supports high-speed shooting at up to 2x in 4K and 4x in HD. An optional HD optical low-pass filter helps reduce moiré when capturing LED walls, making the camera suitable for studio broadcasts, sports coverage and live events.

AK-UBX100: Compact 4K Imaging for Automated Production

The AK-UBX100 combines professional 4K imaging and advanced autofocus in a compact, lightweight body weighing approximately 1.9 kg. Featuring a 19.29-megapixel MOS sensor and a horizontal resolution of 2,000 TV lines in 4K, the camera is designed for production environments that require high image quality alongside flexible installation.

Its flat-sided body and mounting points support deployment across robotic heads, cranes, gimbals, tripods and ceiling-mounted rigs. The lightweight construction can help reduce counterweight requirements in certain crane and gimbal configurations, while facilitating camera repositioning across different production setups.

The camera supports dual 12G-SDI, dual SMPTE ST 2110, NDI High Bandwidth and SRT. Dual SFP terminals support integration across IP and baseband workflows, while compatibility with Panasonic remote operation panels and third-party pan/tilt heads provides additional flexibility for system integration.

Built on the same platform and menu interface as the AK-UCX100, the AK-UBX100 also helps simplify colour matching and supports consistent operation across compatible camera systems. These capabilities make it suitable for broadcast studios, sports coverage, live events and automated production environments.
