Needle-Based Cryoablation Relieves Chronic Testicular Pain without Surgery

Hyderabad, May 22: Doctors at KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, successfully treated a patient suffering from chronic testicular pain without performing surgery. Using advanced Cryoablation technology, doctors provided long-term relief through a minimally invasive needle-based procedure. Details of the treatment were shared by Consultant (Interventional Pain Physician) Dr. Anusha Karumuri.

A 51-year-old patient from Hyderabad, had been suffering from severe scrotal pain for the past eight months. The pain persisted while sitting, standing, or even lying down, significantly affecting his quality of life. He also experienced severe discomfort during intimate moments with his wife. Despite consulting multiple hospitals and undergoing various treatments, he found no relief.

After approaching KIMS Hospitals, led by Dr. Anusha Karumuri first identified the exact pain-generating area using ultrasound guidance. heading the pain medicine department performed the procedure Cryoablation therapy.

In this procedure, a thin needle is inserted into the affected area and extremely cold gas is delivered through it. This creates a small “ice ball” around the targeted nerve tissue, temporarily disabling the pain-transmitting nerve cells. As a result, the patient experiences immediate and significant pain relief.

“This treatment does not require surgery and can be completed in a short duration. It offers long-term relief with minimal discomfort to the patient. To our knowledge, this is the first time such technology has been used in the Telugu states for chronic testicular pain at KIMS Secunderabad,” said Dr. Anusha Karumuri.

Doctors added that this advanced technique can also be used to treat several other chronic pain conditions affecting different parts of the body.
