New Delhi, May 30, 2023: Wishes and Blessings, a renowned NGO dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged individuals, successfully conducted a workshop on menstrual hygiene to observe World Menstrual Hygiene Day. The event took place close to Gate 2 of Madipur Metro Station, Delhi. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and provide feminine hygiene essentials to women living in the Madipur slum.
The workshop on menstrual hygiene was a significant initiative undertaken by Wishes and Blessings to address the challenges faced by women in underserved communities. With the support of Bliss Sanitary Napkins, Wishes and Blessings team generously distributed pads and other menstrual hygiene essentials to women of Madipur slum and adjoining areas.
Dr. Geetanjali Chopra, Founder & President of Wishes and Blessings, expressed her opinion on the importance of the workshop, stating, “Menstrual hygiene plays a pivotal role in the well-being and dignity of women. By organizing this workshop, Wishes and Blessings urges women to live and lead healthier lives. We believe that every woman deserves access to adequate menstrual hygiene facilities and education, and we are committed to working towards this cause. This workshop aimed to raise awareness among underprivileged women and girls about menstruation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining menstrual hygiene, the potential consequences of neglecting hygiene, and the benefits of using sanitary napkins.”
“Among the attendees, only around 6% of women had prior knowledge about sanitary pads and their usage. Most were unaware of these hygiene products due to limited accessibility and lack of information. Furthermore, with the motive to address this crucial concern of menstrual hygiene and promote awareness on a larger scale, Wishes and Blessings is planning to conduct more such workshops in Delhi and other parts of India,” Dr. Geetanjali added.
