Dr. Mahesh B. H., Head, the Department of Spine & Joint Surgery said, “On this occasion of the successful completion of 750 scoliosis surgeries we would like to thank everyone who has been our backbone in this endeavor. Scoliosis, a condition characterized by an abnormal curvature of the spine, often poses challenges to mobility, confidence, and overall well-being. Our hospital has emerged as a beacon of hope for individuals affected by this condition, offering advanced surgical interventions, compassionate care, and a path to a pain-free life.

Our team of skilled orthopedic surgeons, nurses, and support staff have demonstrated exceptional dedication and expertise in correcting spinal deformities, restoring not just physical alignment but also the confidence and vitality of the patients. The 750 successful surgeries stand as a testament to the hospital’s commitment to patient-centric care and innovative medical solutions, especially supporting Economically challenged patients.

With time we have realized that there is a large segment of kids from rural areas who are in far flung remote areas without access to health care for these conditions. Hence we are reaching out to rural doctors to screen children from schools in these areas and inform us so that we can address this. We hope that with more screening and awareness and more funding, we will be able to treat more and more children effectively so that no child is denied this surgery for financial reasons” he was quoted as saying

About the success story of treating 750 scoliosis patients

Vitus Clinical Services, an integral part of the Department of Spine and Joint Surgery, pain and palliative care at Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital is one such center where the entire range of spine surgeries are done at affordable cost.

Since the inception of the department in 2010, a total of 750 scoliosis surgeries have been performed. Of the 750 surgeries, more than 300 surgeries were possible due to the financial support for deserving patients. These are significant numbers and probably the largest from a single institution in this part of the country.

A large part of these patients is from low socioeconomic families who cannot afford these surgeries for which funding has been arranged from various NGOs (like Jai Shiv Shakti Health and €educational foundation, Have a Heart, Child Help, Sun foundation, etc). A significant donation has come from the hospital and the doctors who have contributed generously to this.

With a focus on innovative medical solutions, expertise in orthopedic surgeries, and compassionate care, the hospital has become a trusted name in spinal treatments, transforming the lives of patients affected by various spinal conditions, including scoliosis.
